As Sound Designer I worked to make each object feel as tangible as possible, exploring the different textures and materials made up in the different parts to make each action of detaching and attaching feel satisfying and physical. Throughout the narrative it felt important to create a sense of the town in which the characters were based. I was lucky to work with some amazing voice actors on bringing each character to life so it felt fitting to explore a radio play style of audio design that support their voiced narratives with audio reflects of actions in a particular scene. As you listen to the characters speak you might hear the chiming of the nearby church bell or the bustle of the market place where you stand, as Maria follows a character in to an interior space the audio environment changes to reflect that and there we hear the footsteps as they walk or the opening and closing of doors.
I was also responsible for the audio implementation throughout the project which I worked within WWISE.
Assemble with Care
I worked throughout 2019 as Composer and Sound Designer on the Ustwo Games title Assemble with Care, a mobile game that follows the journey of a travelling repairwoman as she works to fix the beloved objects of some of the townsfolk in her last stop, Bellariva. AWC is a narrative puzzle game that invites players to take apart familiar objects and restore them to their former working states, all the while getting to know the towns inhabitants and what stories these objects tell about the lives of their owners, and what might need fixing aside from these cherished possessions.
My role as composer was to create a soundtrack that helped tell the story of our main character Maria and reflect through varying themes each of the characters we meet along the way. The soundtrack also needed to reflect the setting of the late 1980’s and drew inspiration from pop music and film scores of that decade.
